(Tallinn) - Among the Baltic States, Estonians use the services of insurance companies the most while among Latvians this service is the least popular.
In Estonia there are 18% of people who have not selected any type of insurance for themselves or their property; in Latvia this number is 39% and in Lithuania a third of residents do not have any insurance contracts, appeared from a study carried out by TNS and If Latvia, writes Postimees Online/LETA.
The most popular type of insurance is the obligatory traffic insurance; in Estonia 62% of residents have its policy; in Lithuania the number is 54% and in Latvia only 46% of residents.
“The results of the study reflect more the economic differences between the three Baltic States rather than national characteristics. While in Estonia, for example, there are 0.6 cars registered per resident, in Latvia this indicator is 0.3 and in Lithuania 0.4,” said the CEO of If Eesti Kindlustus Andres Sooniste.
He added that Estonians’ insurance awareness is increasing every day and Estonia is fast catching up with the developed European countries in this respect.
